Happy new year! There’s not been much posting around here lately as I’ve been busy with festivities and a couple of interesting projects have been reaching completion. My plans for 2013 are to post on a more regular basis and if I get my act together, something bigger will be launching. It’s just been behind the scenes for too long now. That’s enough of that, lets get on with it.
I realised the other day that I’ve been using Instagram properly for about 12 months now. In that time I’ve posted about 150 pics and despite the fact that very few have people in them (I use my other camera for that, I do have friends honest) I have looked through with fond memories of the time and place they were taken.
Whatever your opinion of Instagram, there’s no denying that it has become one of the main social sharing applications and of those it is one that encourages creativity. I enjoy it, I don’t take it seriously and I like that it makes the mundane look more interesting. How can you not be inspired by looking at something seemingly ordinary in a different light (read filter)?
I was in the middle of writing this post when the recent ToS changes debacle happened. It seems quite apt that I was writing this post at the time. To be honest, I wasn’t surprised. Then they withdrew those terms, stating that everyone had misinterpreted them. To be honest, I’m not surprised by that either. As to the future of Instagram, who knows. What I do know is that I find it fun and don’t want to have to stop using it – at the same time I don’t mind a few promoted images if it means I can continue to use it for free.
Anyway, below are some of my favourites from last year. If you want to see the others, or heaven forbid follow me I’m on there with a pretty obvious username.
