Ward End Park House, also known locally as the ‘White House’ is a former residential home in Ward End Park, Birmingham. It has had multiple uses throughout its lifetime and has been owned by Birmingham City Council since 1903, who later purchased additional land around the house to create Ward End Park.
It is a much valued building in the community but unfortunately had fallen into disrepair. However, exciting plans to fully refurbish the house have been put together along with a proposal to upgrade the adjacent courtyard area.
Studio Denley worked with the team at Birmingham City Council’s East Birmingham Inclusive Growth Programme to produce a suite of marketing materials that would help them to communicate the next stage of the house’s journey. These items aided them in a series of roadshow events where they engaged with the local community to discuss the proposed plans. Their final event was a larger celebration that gave people the opportunity to tour the house as well as take part in a number of family-friendly activities in the park and gardens that surround Ward End Park House.

For the designs, a visual identity was created for the house that would ensure consistency across all of the materials. The designs included pop-up banners, display boards, feedback cards, flags and a mini brochure showcasing the history of the house, its current condition and plans for the future.

The events were extremely well-attended and overall reaction to the plans was positive. Their main event saw at least 200 people tour the house. The White House is a real community treasure and many people are keen to see it brought back to its former glory.
