Place Prospectors CIC
Showcasing dedicated placemaking, community building and arts engagement.
Place Prospectors CIC is an arts organisation that engages with local communities to encourage and support development. They do this through workshops, events, exhibitions and artworks – all rooted in extensive research and planning. They work with and bring out the best in people, encouraging confidence and mobilising resources to create strong relationships with people in communities who are committed to making a difference.
Since 2017 they have been based in Druids Heath, Birmingham, investing creatively in the community and emphasising the many assets it has. They have grown from their initial project to become a much treasured arts centre, The Outpost.
Studio Denley worked with Place Prospectors to create two printed volumes covering their work over the past eight years and their proposed plans for the future.
The first of the two volumes is a celebration of the many arts projects they have initiated within the community. These are always in response to what is wanted in the area, as an essential part of the work they do is related to what the community value.
Place Prospectors had created a lot of great photography and imagery over the years, the layout design puts these first, allowing the projects to be the focus.
The second book details their Cultural Placemaking Plan for Druids Heath and the benefits that it will bring to the community.
The cover design of both volumes is inspired by the mosaic tiles that are a feature of the tower blocks in Druids Heath. The patterns are taken directly from the blocks and recreated digitally.
