University of Birmingham
Creating a variety of materials for the University with the team at Creative Media.
Since 1900, the University of Birmingham has been pursuing and sharing knowledge through outstanding teaching and world-leading research. Its beautiful and ever-evolving campus in Edgbaston covers 672 acres and features a range of resources available to its students. The University of Birmingham has also recently opened a state-of-the-art campus in Dubai.
In addition to its academic prowess, the University is home to many cultural gems – these include The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, Winterbourne House & Garden and The Lapworth Museum of Geology.
I worked with the team at Creative Media to produce a number of marketing materials for the University including brochures, prospectuses, flyers, pop-up banners, exhibition and presentation designs.
The scope of work produced by the team is vast. While each element of the University has its own look and feel, all of the materials produced use the same fonts and colour palettes. What could be seen as a restriction led to an opportunity to be as a creative as possible. Working to create designs that were distinctive while keeping within the guidelines was a throughly enjoyable challenge.
Projects also included creating bespoke illustrations, logos and new identities. The variety of designs produced was pleasurable for me as I was able to make good use of my diverse skill set.
